Created as a gift for my Daughter’s family. Inspired by manhole covers I photographed while walking around Houston, Texas.
Here, I added coloring to these designs to make them appear more attractive and unique. I am fascinated by the way storm water is separated from that containing raw sewage, yet both sources are collected, filtered, treated and redistributed to homes for clean bathing, cooking and drinking.
I often find myself captivated by these weighty, ever present, iron artworks. Also intriguing: How can it be economically feasible to import these heavyweight objects all the way from India?

From early childhood, Doug demonstrated a strong interest in drawing, painting, and building things. Throughout his school years, Doug excelled in all his art classes, winning numerous awards and recognition for his artistic abilities. Upon graduating from high school, Doug became a student at The American Academy of Art, Chicago, where he studied commercial graphics, life drawing and watercolors.
