"Summer's Celebrant" ---Painted in 1971 (palette knife) part of an ongoing project to archive my earlier artworks and make reproduction prints available to the general public.
As the summer unfolds...so follows the iris. Its beauty and stature in a garden place it the center of attention. A fully-opened flower resembles a soloist, rejoicing summer's splendor.

Doug---very pretty Iris with palette knife. I wish I had some of the fantastic Iris bulbs from my grandmother's. I have a friend that has them from her grandmother---and they were bought in 1930---the bulbs are 8 inches across---and 4 feet high. They are a sight! Thanks for sharing. fave/voted
