Artist's Description
"Morning Maples"
One crisp fall morning I found myself driving on a country back road in an area I was not familiar with. This was a winding road with lots of knolls and valleys. As I crested yet another low hill, off to my left, my eyes caught sight of a small stand of young trees a short distance away.
These trees were all aglow in brightly colored leaves of red & orange. Backlit by the rising sun, where the sun shined brightest, the leaves and branches were invisible.
After passing this divine scene, I thought about going back to take pictures. Perhaps in a hurry to get somewhere, I did not turn around. Instead, I continued on my way and just kept thinking about what a splendid painting it would make.
So I filed this thought along with the many other ideas I have in mind to paint. Now some years later, I've tried to recreate this memorable moment in what I entitled "Morning Maples".

Doug Kreuger, Landscape Artist Member of Oil Painters of America Doug was born in, Aberdeen, South Dakota, and grew up in Hazel Crest, Illinois. From early childhood, Doug demonstrated a strong interest in drawing, painting, and building things. Throughout his school years, Doug excelled in all his art classes, winning numerous awards and recognition for his artistic abilities. Upon graduating from high school, Doug became a student at The American Academy of Art, Chicago, where he studied commercial graphics, life drawing and watercolors. Doug's first job as a professional artist was with Unigraf, a company that specialized in designing P.O.P (point-of-purchase) displays and display graphics. Doug left that company...
