Artist's Description
"Just Around The River Bend" —Chicago Reflections Series
I captured my reference photos for this painting while enjoying an Architectural Boat Tour. This painting depicts the less familiar South Branch of the Chicago River–looking north. From this vantage point, the Willis Tower (Sears Tower) is seen towering above the surrounding skyline. Completed in 1990, the 311 South Wacker Building is located directly in front of the Willis Tower. River City is pictured prominently in the middle.
Just imagine the look of astonishment and wonder on the faces of early explorers to this region, if they were to paddle this river today!

About Doug Kreuger
Doug Kreuger, Landscape Artist Member of Oil Painters of America Doug was born in, Aberdeen, South Dakota, and grew up in Hazel Crest, Illinois. From early childhood, Doug demonstrated a strong interest in drawing, painting, and building things. Throughout his school years, Doug excelled in all his art classes, winning numerous awards and recognition for his artistic abilities. 

Upon graduating from high school, Doug became a student at The American Academy of Art, Chicago, where he studied commercial graphics, life drawing and watercolors. 

Doug's first job as a professional artist was with Unigraf, a company that specialized in designing P.O.P (point-of-purchase) displays and display graphics. Doug left that company...
