Artist's Description
Wilson's Restaurant and Soda Fountain, located in Ephraim, WI, is a Door County landmark and tradition, enjoyed by generations since 1906.
Wilson's old-styled building, with its cheerful red and white striped awnings, adds a charming and colorful accent to Ephraim's beautiful waterfront.
When I walk into Wilson's I revisit the past. I'm reminded of other times I was there... how old I was, who I was with, the time of the year, and what important changes were happening in my life at the time. Despite how quickly time passes and things change, in Ephraim and at Wilson's, time seems to pass more slowly, changing very little from year to year.
The popularity of Wilson's, along with its nostalgic surroundings, inspired me to paint "Fountain of Youth" as a celebration of its continuing legacy of an era gone by.

Thanks, Penny, aside from the nostalgia and tradition Wilson's serves great food! Their chili is especially tasty after a long day of walking and sightseeing on a cool fall afternoon. They also serve the best ice cream sundaes on the peninsula!
