"Evening Flight" ---Chicago Reflections Series
Like a beacon on Chicago's skyline, Trump International Hotel and Tower soars as a shining addition to the continuing evolution of modern architecture in Chicago.
My inspiration for painting "Evening Flight" is the gleaming exterior of the new Trump Tower Chicago. Its mirror-like windows, framed in stainless steel, reflect and seemingly intensify ambient light.
As the sun settles in the west, and other buildings darken in shadowy tones of grays and purple, Trump Tower brightens with colors reflected from it surroundings. As the second tallest building in Chicago, its most predominant reflections come from the sky.
I am reminded (from my childhood) of silver aluminum Christmas trees---0illuminated by a rotating color wheel. Popular in the early 1960s, these trees were standouts in the windows of many department stores and family homes. The magic of the slowly changing colors, from red to green to orange...
About Doug Kreuger
Doug Kreuger, Landscape Artist Member of Oil Painters of America Doug was born in, Aberdeen, South Dakota, and grew up in Hazel Crest, Illinois. From early childhood, Doug demonstrated a strong interest in drawing, painting, and building things. Throughout his school years, Doug excelled in all his art classes, winning numerous awards and recognition for his artistic abilities. 

Upon graduating from high school, Doug became a student at The American Academy of Art, Chicago, where he studied commercial graphics, life drawing and watercolors. 

Doug's first job as a professional artist was with Unigraf, a company that specialized in designing P.O.P (point-of-purchase) displays and display graphics. Doug left that company...
