Love this composition. "End of a Season" says "end of a farm life" to me ....reminds me of the farm where I grew up and which no longer has any remnants remaining. L&F

Wonderful capture of this sad abandoned farm, Doug! A timeless pictorial commentary with incredible imagery and symbolism! Imagine all the once-thriving farms that have been destroyed over the centuries by bankers greed! L/F

Doug Kreuger replied:

Thank you very much Hanne! If you and I were to have a conversation on this subject, it could last for days… But I think we'd both change the conversation to a happier subject after just a few minutes… (-:

Fine capture, Doug! I love the silo feature on this piece, as it shows off the various types and construction of these pillars of storage for everyone to see and admire. Nice capture, my friend!

Artist's Description

"End of a Season" was inspired by an abandoned farm located near my home in Monee, IL. After driving by this scene numerous times, I was able to witness its slow, progressive decline. On one particular occasion, I decided to photograph this setting before it disappears all-together. The earthy colors of the rusted metal, dried crops and barren trees combine to provide a sense of melancholy emptiness to this "End of a Season" landscape.
