What is the water in this painting? A view from where? It is lovely!

Doug Kreuger replied:

Thanks Mary! The water is Lincoln Park Lagoon. The view is looking south. To the right, just beyond the trees, is Lincoln Park Zoo. To the left is Chicago's famous Lake Shore Drive, running alongside Lake Michigan. If you look closely, one can see a few cars on the inner drive.
