Artist's Description

Chicago Reflections - "Spring Serenity"

View: Looking south from Lincoln Park Lagoon, Chicago, IL

"Spring Serenity" is the first in a series of paintings entitled "Chicago Reflections".

My inspiration for painting Spring Serenity is the spectacular view of Chicago's skyline when looking southward from Lincoln Park Lagoon. From this vantage point, Chicago's three tallest buildings stand like sentinels towering above the landscape. Lightly leafed trees offer a nearly unobstructed view, while early spring blossoms brighten the scene.

As the morning sun rises, a pair of gray pigeons in the foreground begins their pursuit of daily nourishment.

Reflections present themselves in many areas of this painting, reflections of the Chicago cityscape within the tranquil waterway, reflections of the early morning sun adding its golden depth to the reflected scene; and of course, I could imagine the couple in the rowboat reflecting on the marvelous beauty...
