Artist's Description

''Nlovember Winds''

It's early November in Northern Illinois, and strong winds are sweeping across acres of drying corn stalks, erasing the final remnants of summer's verde.

The abandoned silos and farm buildings pictured in this scene are located a short distance from where I live. As new home developments spread across rural America, small family farms are disappearing from the landscape.

November's wind has a unique way of leaving its mark on the changing seasons and surrounding countryside; replacing lush shades of greenery with rich earthen tones of autumn's harvest-gold and burnt-siena.

In the fall, I enjoy taking walks with my grandchildren among rows of towering corn stalks, listening to the crisp crackling sounds of dried corn leaf.

The memory of this experience takes me back to my own childhood adventures when my brothers and I would trek through farm fields, richly blessed in autumn bounty.

Happy Thanksgiving Friends!
