"Waco Texas" by Doug Kreuger
My inspiration for creating this artwork is the HGTV Hit Show, Fixer Upper, starring Chip and Joanna Gaines.
As a fan of Fixer Upper, I admire the beauty and fun Chip and Joanna bring to their renovation projects, as well as their marriage, family and business ventures. Inspiration for all of us!
In this artwork you will find my sketches of iconic Waco landmarks depicted on white painted shiplap boards. The ornamental double-ringed Texas Star with Waco logo is intended to be a 3-dimensional wall decor.
-- The ALICO Building, a 22-story office building in downtown Waco
-- The Waco Hippodrome Theatre Marquis, thanking Chip and Joanna Gaines for the economic growth their continuing successes bring to Waco and its surrounding communities
-- The McLennan County Courthouse, built in 1901, not only a functioning center of justice but also one of Waco’s most impressive historical buildings
-- The Waco Suspension Bridge, opened in 1870, crossing the Brazos River in Waco; a single-span suspension bridge with a main span of 475 feet (145 m)
-- Magnolia Market at the Silos, once a historic cottonseed mill, now owned by Chip and Joanna Gaines, and one of Waco’s Waco’s most popular tourist destinations
-- Baylor University, chartered in 1845 by the last Congress of the Republic of Texas, the oldest continuously operating university in Texas, located on the banks of the Brazos River in Waco, TX, and one of the first higher education institutions west of the Mississippi. It just so happens (BU is also the alma mater of Chip Carter Gaines and Joanna Stevens Gaines)
