Description
"Coy Koi”
Avoiding people, while seeking to hide their colorful beauty beneath lily pads, Koi fish can appear shy, if not modest, about how innocently attractive and popular they are in small pond settings.
Yet, when you watch these exotic fish swimming gracefully, turning and fanning their tails in a seemingly flirtatious way, they can easily lead you to believe they are not shy at all—simply, “Coy Koi”.
My reference photos for this painting were taken at the Chicago Botanic Garden, Glencoe, IL. Reflected on the water’s surface, one can make out the upside-down image of the park’s logo; a flowering plant, welded to fencing that borders this pond.

Thanks again Donna! Actually, this one was digitally rendered from a photograph, using electronic brushstrokes. Happy you like it

Love this! Great composition! And the fact that we are shown the reflections, rather than the objects at the top, adds to the overall effect! L&F
