Garden Respite #1

Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
My inspiration for painting "Garden Respite" began with a visit to the Chicago Botanical Gardens in 2008.
Within the wandering paths, I came upon a secluded sun-dappled bench — a sanctuary nearly hidden by an overgrowth of lush green foliage, bright roses and delicate clematis. Truly a garden respite, its beauty and
tranquillity presented an irresistible invitation to sit, relax and contemplate nature.
A pair of Goldfinches appear to be carefree as they enjoy the safety of this sanctuary, guarded by a tangle of thorny stems.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments Elizabeth! You will find both finches on the bench; one on the arm, the other on the top rail of the back. It may help to use the zoom box.
