Artist's Description

"Great-Grandma's Heirloom Rose" --- Harrison's Yellow, introduced in 1824 also known as The Pioneer Rose

Originally a gift from my Grandpa Johnson to his mother-inlaw, (my Great-Grandma Walt) living in Aberdeen, SD at the time. Today, this yellow rose grows in my own backyard, and produces fragrant yellow flowers in mid-June.

In Oregon it also known as the Old Logtown Rose---appearing in old abandoned logging company towns from the 1800s.

Growing wild in flourishing thickets, this rose can also be found alongside the renowned Oregon Trail, and out onto the plains. Some folks say its heritage belongs to ''The Yellow Rose of Texas''. In any case, this rose is perfect for anyone with a corner in their garden and a heart for history.

Foot Note: Heirloom roses, also...
