Description
“Hoping for Leftovers” –Dedicated to Randy Rosenberg, Administrator of the Wisconsin Flowers and Scenery Group
My inspiration for creating “Hoping for Leftovers” came from a photograph entitled “Another Bale Out” belonging to my dear friend, Randy. When I first saw “Another Bale Out” I was attracted by the cleverness of Randy’s punny satirical title; apropos to U.S. Government Bailouts. I also liked the bright autumn colors, and the way in which the foreground trees framed the golden farm field.
After Randy gifted me with a digital file (of my choosing) Dec. 2012, I expressed an interest in using this image as a basis to paint my vision. Out of respect for Randy’s work, I strived to retain the integrity of his original image, while adding my own design elements and digital brushstrokes to his composition.
So here it is, a year later; My Tribute to “Another Bale Out”:
"Hoping for Leftovers” is my effort to create “pundit" satire: A flock of diving birds (U.S. Corporations in financial chaos) chase the baler (U.S. Government) to get their beaks on a share of golden harvest (U.S. Tax Dollars) while a pair of cardinals (American Taxpayers) perch on the sideline and wait for the feeding frenzy to stop.

Footnote: My decision to show a pair of Cardinals in this composition is a nod to the outstanding aviary artworks of a fellow WFS Artist, my dear friend, Nava Jo Thompson.

Lovely image! It seems to be depicting contradiction_the peaceful life of the birds in nature while a machine in the background is busy making straw bales.
Doug Kreuger replied:
Thank you Dominique! One would agree… until you witness flocks of birds following the machines, feeding on the stirred up insects and airborne grain.
